Dr. Martha Shuping graduated from Wake Forest University Medical School in 1984, and completed her psychiatry residency at the university medical center in 1988. She practices psychiatry in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and has more than two decades of experience in helping people with abortion recovery issues.
Dr. Shuping is a co-author of published research on abortion and women’s mental health, and she is co-author of the self-help book, The Four Steps to Healing. She has facilitated more than 50 abortion recovery weekends, and has trained abortion recovery ministry teams in the U.S. and internationally. She has presented workshops on abortion and women’s health issues at the United Nations. She has traveled to more than a dozen countries to teach professionals and peer counselors about the effects of abortion and how to facilitate recovery. Dr. Shuping is a former pregnancy resource center director, and also has experience in teaching abstinence and training abstinence educators.
